It starts off with a flashback and introducing Anansi Nancy. A pretty decent read, but nothing terribly special.

I loved that the tarbaby story was orginally an anansi tale, and I wondered how many others (i know, i know, all of them) I'd recognize. I agree with many of the reviewers who praise this fun and inventive novel, but I am especially fascinated by how Gaiman represents race in. The woman is Maeve who starts talking but he can't because he doesn't have a tongue.

They are wonderful stories. She was a widow who needed to sort out Morris Livingstone's estate and to get the money that belonged to her. Despite garnering enough votes for a Hugo nomination, Gaiman declined it. Back in England, Spider wasn't his usual self. Spider proceeds to wreck Charlie's life in humorous ways.

Due to confusion and intimidation, Charlie accidentally promises Anansi's bloodline to Bird, agreeing that she can kill both Spider and Charlie. It is narrated by Joseph Marcell, and stars Jacob Anderson as Fat Charlie, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett as Spider and Lenny Henry as Anansi, with the rest of the cast including Julian Rhind-Tutt as Grahame Coats and Adjoa Andoh as Bird Woman.

I laughed out loud. A delight (& the first of Gaiman's books that I've read to get the full ***** from me)!

They explain that this isn't true but this doesn't work. I thought the plot was incredibly interesting and I loved learning more about Anansi and his background. Fat Charlie agreed to return to Florida to obtain the feather he got from the Bird Woman to close the deal. I'm a very happy person & love to see others smile. The novel follows their adventures as they explore their common heritage.
