We have found this out in the Arcades as we buy many new T.V.s a month because of damage, breakage etc and are having a hard time sourcing T.V.s with anything but HDMI connectors on them, (new arcade games use HDMI but our older games need a DSub connector). There are guides on how to disassemble the Xbox if you haven’t done this step before. Interesting. Dont buy any adapters that are converting component to HDMI, just wait for the proper solution due out next year. In my case I connected a pair of thicker wires to the underside of the 20-pin ATX connector. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You could buy a component cable for your system, but official Microsoft cables are hard to find and expensive. Why didn’t you just leave the component to HDMI converter box outside of the console? You will need to completely remove the motherboard, so that you can access the solder points for the video connector underneath the board. This would be the ideal mod.

Yeah, it works externally as well, you’ll just need some original Xbox component video cables. You’ll want to use a multimeter to determine which solder points correspond to which parts of the jack. This is actually a great idea.

If you would like to continue to use the AV port for composite, you will want to connect those two pairs of solder points through external switches, instead of directly bridging the connections.
